On February 11th Akumen hosted our first ever networking event for local charities and not for profit organisations in Cornwall and Devon. We often joke that we are Bude's best kept secret and so this was our way of inviting in our local community and building new relationships. As our work often takes us into analysing mental health and suicide prevention, we wanted to learn more from people working around these topics to understand what else we can do to have an impact in our local communities.
Our Chief Executive, Rob Horton, who is also a practising paramedic, conducted a CPR training session for the attendees. This valuable experience provided us with greater confidence and equipped us with essential skills to respond effectively in emergencies, significantly increasing the chances of saving lives.
As always Rob did a tremendous job of supplying an afternoon tea with homemade scones, which kept the team fed for days after the event. Of course we had the age old debate - cream first or jam!
